Venice Catch-Up

I've just realised, whilst having a read back through my blog (sometimes I forget it's even me!), that I never shared any of my Venice photos. I went back in November for my birthday; I'm trying to make 'going away for a few days for my birthday' a yearly occurrence, the boyf never knows what to get me as a gift so this is ideal. Last year we went to Rome, the year before that Paris...

I'd asked for a new camera for Christmas, and Father Christmas was *ever* so kind to loan me the camera to go to Venice; on the condition I sent it straight back to him (via Mother, of course) as soon as I got back!

Canon PowerShot SX40 HS

We had so much fun in Venice; we drank too much Prosecco; ate too many pizzas; and walked I don't know how many miles in, on two days, freezing fog - but I would go back tomorrow if I could. It is a, scenically, amazing place to visit. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Anyway, on with a small snippet of some of my favourite pictures; I took over 800 photos! Trust me when I say this is a snippet! Enjoy!

There's No Business Like Snow Business

As with, probably, everyone else in the country, I've had a snow filled weekend this weekend. It started Friday when we were sent home from work; too snowy to stay in work in town, but not too snowy to go to the boyf's up the mountain, hehe! Probably should have stayed in work; but I didn't want to miss out on all the fun!

Here's a few pics from my weekend...

Post Christmas Shopping

I've not done a 'what I've bought' post in a while; in fact, I've not bought anything in a while apart from Christmas presents. Even when the River Island online sale came around (side note: I live for the River Island online sale) I struggled to find anything I wanted. I actually hate sales though; and never go anywhere near the shop for a good few weeks after the main event; usually just as they're moving all the sale items out!

Anyway, yesterday; after deciding enough time had lapsed and hoping the crowds and displays were a bit more organised; I ventured to Topshop and River Island, and came away with some right beauties from the jewellery sales.

p.s. check out my little beauty; isn't she amazing!

I Don't Think You're Ready For This Jelly

I haven't celebrated Halloween yet; apart from painting my nails. Me and the girles are off to a party tomorrow night. So last night I decided I'd make some jelly shots to take with me!!

The below liquid measurements can be adjusted to taste / preference. The only two firm rules I would go by are: -

1. Always melt the jelly in the microwave BEFORE adding the alcohol. DO NOT put the alcohol in the microwave.

2. You need 1 pint of liquid for every 135g bar of jelly - how you make up that pint of liquid is up to you; but my way tastes pretty darn good; even if I do say so myself!! ;)

1. You will need: -
  * Jelly (I'm using Hartleys Raspberry)
  * Alcohol of choice (I'm using Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur and Passion Fruit Malibu)
  * A 1 pint jug
  * Shot glasses

2. Place the jelly in the jug and fill the jug 1/3 (one third) (approx. 7 fl. oz.) full with boiling water from the kettle. Place in the microwave for 10-20 seconds until dissolved and stir well.

3. Top the jug up to 2/3 (two thirds) (approx. 14 fl. oz.) with cold water from the tap and stir well.

4. Top the jug up to full (1 pint) with the alcohol of your choice.

5. Fill up your shot glasses - I managed to fill 11 shot glasses with my mixture; but as you can see they are all different sized glasses.

6. Put in the fridge over night - I placed my shot glasses in an old biscuit tin, just so I had more control over them when putting them in / taking them out of the fridge, and to decrease the likely hood of someone putting something in the fridge without realising and knocking them over!!

Enjoy!

Swatch Out

I accidentally placed an order for 8 more Models Own nail varnishes like 11:30pm on the last night of the Models Own 50% off Sale; don't you just hate it when that happens!? I must have been sleep-walking or something!

Hehe!

Anyway, they arrived yesterday morning (sorry Models Own, but that was shoddy delivery, considering I ordered them on the 2nd!); and here they are...

So last night, I spent my evening swatching all the colours I own. I mainly did this for my own benefit, to help me decide more quickly which colour I want to use (instead of rummaging through all the boxes, splodging quick blobs of polish on my nails to see how it looks) but I thought I'd share...

Day Trippin'

After our spur of the moment day trip to Conwy a couple of weeks ago, me and the boyf decided to go away for the weekend to explore a bit more of the North Wales coastline.

We stayed in Porthmadog.

We visited Carnarfon

Spent the day in Baumaris

And stopped off at this place on the way home

Or Llanfair PG as it's more commonly known - try saying that drunk! [or sober if you're not Welsh!]

Then, to top it all off, on the drive back home we drove through the tiniest little village [so small I can't even find it on a map!] with quite possibly THE greatest name ever

Action Shot
Yeah that says Glassblobbery!!

All in all a nice weekend. We're definitely going to do more exploring in the future; there's so much to see!

Summer Days

I love days out. Even if it's just to the next town over; anything to get me away from my home town!

On Saturday, since the weather was so beautiful, spur of the moment, me and the boyf went to Conwy on the North Wales coast. It's a tiny little town, built within the walls of a Medieval Castle; Castell Conwy - there really isn't much there except for the Castle and walls, a Marina, Britain's Smallest House(!) and stunning views - but I had fun.

It was nice to walk around the castle then sit at the waters edge eating ice-cream, watching children crab fishing, whilst a street performer and fish monger battled to be heard - proper old school atmosphere.

Here's a couple of pictures for you....

Sorry if this post was so boring; I've literally done nothing else! I painted my nails, no design; but they turned out awful because my top coat is running out so it went on all tacky and gloopy. Hopefully in the next few days I'll have some new nails for you.
